Thanks to the Lord! Our story is a story of Unity!

After Jacob dreamed of the ladder and Joseph dreamed of binding the grain, God accomplished and blessed them. Pastor Ian Cheng also dreamed of a Chinese church in Bellevue’s city center like a shining light in 2013. And there are numerous lights twinkling like many small groups scattered around the Eastside. Therefore, in 2014, Pastor Ian Cheng followed the vision given by the Lord, a Sunday service of Mandarin worship was set up in downtown Bellevue until 2017.

But this vision was not interrupted because of this change. Not long after, Pastor Jacob Zhang also established Rock Chinese Church in downtown Bellevue. God has blessed Pastor Zhang’s faithful service in Rock Chinese Church, where many were led to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and the church has also grown in size.

Soon after, in 2019, Pastor Ian Cheng planted Seattle Chinese Covenant Church in Bellevue. A year later, Rock Chinese Church merged with Seattle Chinese Covenant Church in 2020, therefore Pastor Ian Cheng returned to downtown Bellevue once again. The vision was passed on by changing hands and taking turns, This beautiful church merger is not only a wonderful testimony among Chinese churches, but also God paving the way for the Kingdom growth of Chinese churches in Bellevue and on the eastside of Seattle.

Thanks to the Lord! Our story is also a story of breeding in endlessly and branching out.

Pastor Ian Cheng led short term mission teams to Germany 20 years ago to share Gospels with Chinese student on campuses. His teams helped local students in Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz to establish student churches in those 3 cities in east Germany. Pastor Ian Cheng's mission works has been transferred to UK campuses in recent years. There are 4 thousand international students from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong studying in the University of Washington every year. Besides undergraduate and graduate students of UW, there are also many students in various community colleges and most of them have never heard of the name of Jesus Christ.

Adhering to the mission of sharing Gospels with college students for many years, Pastor Ian Cheng planted a student church at the University of Washington in 2021 and established UW Chinese Covenant Church on the campus to spread the gospel to Chinese students from mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. A student church is like a light shines into the campus for God. This vast threshing field must be tied and binded for God’s kingdom, so our story has become a story of branching out too.
